Fall Event Season Kicks Off In Tacoma
Of all the great cannabis industry events on the horizon this Fall, we were excited to kick off the season with the Northwest Cannabis Classic in Tacoma! A business and horticultural expo paired with a traditional cannabis cup, the Northwest Cannabis Classic judged the best edibles, flowers and concentrates in the northwest United States. After learning more about it, we knew that this was the perfect opportunity to network with advocates and cannabusinesses alike, and introduce ourselves to the tight knit community up in legal Washington.
After setting up our Cashinbis booth on Friday afternoon, the festivities kicked off with the VIP Kickoff Party, sponsored by Silika Glass. Held at the historic Broadway Mansion in downtown Tacoma, we knew it would be a fun event, but didn’t know what to expect as we were strangers in a new place – literally from one US border to another!
Come to a Washingtonian with a sincere gesture of friendship before attempting to do business, and you will probably find a friend for life!
What we found inside was more than we could have hoped for; music was bumping, great food and drinks were provided, and vendors were networking and socializing with all the VIP’s in attendance. Right away we discovered that, while the flowers are to die for, concentrates are really the craze in Tacoma. As Southern Californians, of course we’re familiar with dabs, but these north-westerners took it to another level! We were very much impressed by their expertise, and would highly recommend familiarizing yourself with this popular practice before traveling to an event here.
We started making friends immediately – apparently it’s a Washington thing! Certainly something to consider if you are planning on traveling to the state to do business in cannabis or attend a similar event: people in this community really care about the cannabis plant, and they want to see that you care as well. If you want to do business here, make sure to make your rounds to the entire region, rather than just one city, for the most informed perspective.
Many people we spoke with seemed to have strong connections in Oregon as well. With Portland only 2 hours away, it makes sense. We hope to gain more valuable northwestern insights and contacts from NWCC’s final installment in Portland this November. This party was definitely a warm welcome for us – we simply can’t get enough of Washington. The community – and the cannabis – are absolutely top notch.
Tune in for our next update on the Tacoma NWCC, including the category winners!
